Winter Steelhead 2024 Coming to an End

As March winds down, so does the winter steelhead season. For the most part, most of our area streams will close to fishing for steelhead on March 31. The season has been a challenging one for sure. With all of the weather we have had over the last few months, it has been a task working around the storms and maximizing our opportunities on the water. We have definitely had a good year for rainfall and the fish have benefited greatly from it. Overall, it was a good season for me. There were definitely more fish around than the last couple years. Unfortunately, with the streams to our south being blown out for nearly the entire season, I did not get a chance to fish any of the southern streams. But up north, we definitely had some nice fish around and from time to time, it was really good. Now it’s time to hang up the steelhead rods and get out the salmon gear for a bit before I head over the hill to fish the Sacramento River for Trout and Whiskeytown and Shasta Lake for Trout and Kokanee. Hit me up and let’s go fishing.

Fish On,

Alan
